Provisional dates for November exam course - 17th & 18th October
This is a difficult exam made harder by the lack of training in technique and lack of opportunity to practice realistic exam questions in most hospitals.
This exam is too important and expensive to take chances with your knowledge.
Let us help you pass.
This course is designed to give essential help for the OSCE/SOE day of the exam. Although it is not possible to review the whole syllabus in two days, it is possible to increase your chances of passing the exam by learning about exam techniques and the by practicing under simulated exam conditions.
The course is run entirely by volunteers, who give up their time for free; however, we charge a fee in order to cover the costs associated with running the course. SCIP is a not for profit organisation.
The current course fee is £400.
SCIP is held at Legacy Hotels New Place which offers a professional business setting (very different from a hospital setting) such as you will encounter at the Royal College. This has the added convenience of being within 12 miles of Southampton, Portsmouth and Winchester, with easy access from the M3, M27 and via Southampton Airport.
Accommodation
If you live some distance away, you will need to organise your own accommodation. We do not do this for you. Wherever you stay, you need to be able to get to the venue for 8am on both days of the course.
The SCIP course venue (see Location above) has its own accommodation facilities. There are 110 rooms, many ensuite, as well as a gymnasium, sauna, an indoor swimming pool, a bar, a restaurant and a bistro. Whilst the rooms at New Place are relatively expensive (typically £70-90 per night), it is obviously convenient as you will have a slightly more leisurely start to the day. To book directly with New Place please visit their website.
Please note that we only accept applications for the next sitting of the exam, you cannot book beyond that. SCIP is always heavily oversubscribed, so the earlier you apply the better your chance of securing a place. All applications are time-stamped and, once the MCQ results are published, we allocate places on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note that if you cancel after you have been allocated a place we will make every effort to find another candidate to replace you, in which case we will refund your course fee in full. If you cancel in the last 2 weeks before the course runs (for whatever reason), we are unlikely to be able to backfill your place and your course fee may be forfeit. If we are able to backfill your place we will, of course, refund your fee minus any costs that have been incurred.
